This makes it significantly more affordable than the US-built Bronco off-roader and places it squarely in the heart of the Australian SUV market.
One of the key features of the Bronco New Energy is its use of an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) drivetrain, similar to plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) but with a combustion engine acting as a generator to recharge the battery rather than driving the wheels directly. This setup offers a more electric-like driving experience while still providing the range and flexibility of a combustion engine.
